“Cry out to legions of the brave! Time again to save us from the jackals of the street. Ride out, protectors of the realm; Captain’s at the helm, sail across the sea of lights!” In the middle of a siege that threatens to choke the life out of your home city, adventure finds you. 2 PM – Escape from Mos Shutta (Edge of the Empire)
This adventure takes place in Mos Shuuta, a small city on the desert world of Tatooine. Mos Shuuta is situated on the top of a tall, rocky bluff, with nothing but endless desert in every direction around it. As the story begins, the PCs are attempting to escape the servants of the ruler of Mos Shuuta, Teemo the Hutt. Each of the PCs is in trouble with Teemo the Hutt for one reason or another. The only way to get off planet and escape Teemo the Hutt is to steal a ship and fly to safety. Fortunately, they’ll get a chance to do exactly that, by stealing a ship called the Krayt Fang from a Trandoshan named Trex. For up to 6 players, pregens provided. GMed by Eric Babin!

2 PM – DDAL5-3 Uninvited Guests (D&D 5E)
The Shrine of the Axes has been restored and Raggnar Redtooth, who previously conspired with dragon cultists, is trying to restore his reputation in Parnast by sponsoring a feast. There is just one thing he needs, meat for his feast. Game is supposed to be plentiful in the Weathercote Wood, but the townsfolk are all busy with their own work, and the minions of Bad Fruul are still out there causing trouble. What can go wrong on a simple hunt? For 5 players of 1st-4th level. GMed by Jason Stierle!

In Blood Rage, each player controls their own Viking clan’s warriors, leader, and ship. Ragnarök has come, and it’s the end of the world! It’s the Vikings’ last chance to go down in a blaze of glory and secure their place in Valhalla at Odin’s side! For a Viking there are many pathways to glory. You can invade and pillage the land for its rewards, crush your opponents in epic battles, fulfill quests, increase your clan’s stats, or even die gloriously either in battle or from Ragnarök, the ultimate inescapable doom. In the 1920s, Mr. MacDowell, a gifted astrologist, immediately detected a supernatural being upon entering his new house in Scotland. He gathered eminent mediums of his time for an extraordinary séance, and they have seven hours to contact the ghost and investigate any clues that it can provide to unlock an old mystery.

Unable to talk, the amnesic ghost communicates with the mediums through visions, which are represented in the game by illustrated cards. The mediums must decipher the images to help the ghost remember how he was murdered: Who did the crime? Where did it take place? Which weapon caused the death? The more the mediums cooperate and guess well, the easier it is to catch the right culprit. GMed by David Acevedo!

A princess is kidnapped and carried off by savages! But when you get to the village, no one is there. Do you give up and face the wrath of the Warlord Chaghatai, or solve the mystery and rescue the princess? Not really much of a choice, is there? For up to 6 players, characters provided. Secret Hitler is a dramatic game of political intrigue and betrayal set in 1930s Germany. Each player is randomly and secretly assigned to be a liberal or a fascist, and one player is Secret Hitler. The fascists coordinate to sow distrust and install their cold-blooded leader; the liberals must find and stop the Secret Hitler before it’s too late. The liberal team always has a majority. 8 PM – Lords of Waterdeep (All Expansions)
In Lords of Waterdeep, a strategy board game for 2-5 players, you take on the role of one of the masked Lords of Waterdeep, secret rulers of the city. Through your agents, you recruit adventurers to go on quests on your behalf, earning rewards and increasing your influence over the city. Expand the city by purchasing new buildings that open up new actions on the board, and hinder – or help – the other lords by playing Intrigue cards to enact your carefully laid plans. 8 PM – The 2017 Mississippi State Diamonds Championship
This Stronghold game by Mike Fitzgerald is a trick-taking card game in which players collect Diamonds – not cards bearing that suit, mind you, but rather actual “Diamond Crystals”. What makes the game of Diamonds different from other trick-taking card games is that when you cannot follow suit you get a “Suit Action” based on what suit you do play. Suit Actions are also taken by the winner of each trick, as well as at the end of a full Round of play. Whoever has the most points in Diamond Crystals at the end of the game wins! The winner of this tournament will get a trophy, a copy of the game, plus a seat at the final round of the Southeast Regional Championship at Atlanta Game Fest in May (as well as a free badge to Atlanta Game Fest)! 16 players, four tables.

DJ Rosie the Riveting’s revolting retinue of rapscallions has come to Detroit! In what’s being billed as the first ever skyscraper crawl, Crawl Teams will have to face perils on a level never before seen in the Empire! Caravans are having a difficult time getting through to Parnast via the Black Road. Organized attacks by orcs and other monstrous humanoids working in concert with one another have folks baffled. Little do they know that an unusually intelligent hill giant, going by the name of Bad Fruul is to blame. SEER has sent her emissary Hsing, to task your group to accompany a caravan with a very special cargo destined for the Shrine of Axes in Parnast, and to figure out who is responsible. 11 AM – The Evil of Lord DeSilca (Palladium Fantasy)
Lord DeSilca is a wizard-king notorious for his cruelty, use of dark magic and association with demons. Thus, it is no surprise when a horrific plot to make himself a new Lord of Hades is uncovered. Lord DeSilca has made a terrible pact, and at the strike of Midnight and the sacrifice of an innocent life, he and the entire city-state he rules, and all the people within it, will be teleported to Hades to become his damned servants in hell. Thankfully, word has spread across the region and bands of heroes have come to stop this mad dream of Lord Desilca. If the tyrant ruler can be slain or the innocent to be sacrificed rescued before Midnight, he can be stopped and the town saved. If he succeeds, the entire town and EVERYONE within its borders, houses, farms, livestock, and HEROES included, will be ripped from the world of mortal men and transported to the pits of Hell, where DeSilca will gain incredible power, become a Demon Lord, and the town a new realm of torment in Hades. The townsfolk are oblivious to their master’s plan. The few who have heard the tale don’t believe it. They can’t believe that even Lord DeSilca could be so evil. Meanwhile, heroes great and unknown have come to fight the wizard-king. However, over the past week many have vanished or been found slain in the gutter. Other heroes search in vain for Lord DeSilca’s secret lair. In the game, players take turns forming a word using a seven-card hand and a three-card community card pool, scoring money and stock rewards based on their word. Players may use their earned money to buy one letter “patent” in the word they make. In the future, whenever another player uses one of your owned letters on their turn, you earn money from the bank. Letters that are used less frequently have special abilities, increasing their power. When enough of the alphabet has been claimed, players finish the current turn, then score all money, stock and letter patents owned. Create the most valuable empire and you can become the letter tycoon! Starting with $49 apiece, players in The Game of 49 bid to buy spaces on the 49-square (7-by-7) game board. Randomly drawn number cards are auctioned one at a time, with the highest bidder placing a chip on the matching board space. Wild/Payoff cards give players a choice of where to place their chip and also award cash to all players for their chips on the board: $7 per chip, with a payoff maximum of $49. The first player to claim four spaces in a row, in any direction, wins. Lord DeSilca has made a terrible pact, and at the strike of Midnight and the sacrifice of an innocent life, he and the entire city-state he rules, and all the people within it, will be teleported to Hades to become his damned servants in hell. Thankfully, word has spread across the region and bands of heroes have come to stop this mad dream of Lord Desilca. If the tyrant ruler can be slain or the innocent to be sacrificed rescued before Midnight, he can be stopped and the town saved. If he succeeds, the entire town and EVERYONE within its borders, houses, farms, livestock, and HEROES included, will be ripped from the world of mortal men and transported to the pits of Hell, where DeSilca will gain incredible power, become a Demon Lord, and the town a new realm of torment in Hades. The townsfolk are oblivious to their master’s plan. The few who have heard the tale don’t believe it. They can’t believe that even Lord DeSilca could be so evil. Meanwhile, heroes great and unknown have come to fight the wizard-king. However, over the past week many have vanished or been found slain in the gutter. Other heroes search in vain for Lord DeSilca’s secret lair. Each new clue seeming to lead to a dead-end or tragedy and death. Time has nearly run out.  There are only two hours left to find DeSilca and stop him! YOUR team of heroes pray that their last lead to the location of Lord DeSilca’s lair is accurate. If it is, they hold the fate of the entire town and thousands of innocent lives in their hands. And remember, if DeSilca is not stopped, the heroes, along with everyone else, face eternal torment in the pits of Hell. NOTE: Players have TWO hours — real time — to save the day. 10 slots, characters provided. Run by Gaming Guest of Honor, Kevin Siembieda!

11 AM – The 2017 Mississippi State Dimension Championship
Dimension is a fast-paced, innovative puzzle game that takes place in three dimensions with 60 colorful spheres. All of the players play at the same time. Everybody tries to position the spheres on their trays to earn as many points as possible. The task cards indicate how the spheres must be placed to earn points. Complete these tasks while racing against the timer. You get a point for each sphere you use and a bonus token for using all five colors, but you lose two points for each task card you don’t follow correctly. Prove to your opponents that you are the master of multi-dimensional thinking! The winner of this tournament will get a trophy, a copy of the game, plus a seat at the final round of the Southeast Regional Championship at Atlanta Game Fest in May (as well as a free badge to Atlanta Game Fest)! 16 players, four tables!

DON’T FORGET!!

CoastCon 40 will have a play-to-win (PTW) section. If you play any of these board games, you could win a copy to take home.

Whenever you play a PTW game, you’ll write your name on a slip of paper and drop it into a bag with the game name on it. (We will have a volunteer to explain the process and keep track of the games, papers, pens, and bags.)

At 4:00 PM on Sunday, we will grab the bags, pull a name out and that lucky person will get to keep the game that they played! If the winner has not claimed their game, or made arrangements to claim their game, by 4:30 PM, then another winner will be chosen.

Winners can come to the game room to pick up their prizes!
