CoastCon 44 — Costume Contest Rules
Welcome to the CoastCon 44 Costume Contest! Below is some basic information you need- Please note-
- Costume contest registration will be available on Saturday from 11:00 AM until 2:45 PM.
- All contestants MUST register during this time.
- You do not have to be in your cosplay upon registering for the contest.
- Walk-on time will be limited to one minute. If you have a sketch you would like to perform, it must be under one minute long. A microphone will be provided if requested. NOTE: we do not have the capability for music to be played during sketches.
- All weapons must be peace-bound per CoastCon’s rules. (This includes props, parts on costumes, and footwear.)
- Upon registering, a sticker will be placed on the back of your badge with your contest number. (Examples: A3 = Advanced #3; J5 = Journeyman #5; N9 = Novice # 9; Y7 = Youth # 7; C8 = Children’s # 8.)
CoastCon’s Costume Contest categories and awards are as follows:
Best in Show Award – $200 + prizes
Best Advanced (3 or more awards / Best in Show) – $100 + Prizes
Best Journeyman ( 1-3 awards / Best in Show) – $50 + Prizes
Best Novice (No awards) – $25 + Prizes Youth Best in Show – $25 + Prizes
Children’s Best in Show – Prizes Children’s Division Rules:
- The Children’s Division is open to ages 11 and under. Parents must accompany their children to the walkthrough and at all times backstage.
- There will be a limit of 10 slots available in the Children’s Division. This includes all single and group entries (Groups will enter under a single entry number).
- Like adult contestants, walk-on time will be limited to one minute. If you have a sketch you would like to perform, it must be under one minute long. A microphone will be provided if requested. NOTE: we do not have the capability for music to be played during sketches.
- Also like adult contestants, all weapons must be peace-bound per CoastCon’s rules. (This includes props, parts on costumes, and footwear.)
- If a Children Division Entry wishes to be in a group with contests over 17 (ex.: sibling or parent) they have the option to join them in one of the listed Adult Division.
